The Bechstein-Höfe were built between 1886 and 1907. For almost a century, the world-famous concert grand pianos were produced in the plain brick buildings. Until 1988, to be exact, the Bechstein company manufactured instruments and instrument parts in the courtyards. The name on the main building and mosaics with piano keys on the sidewalks remind of the great past. But even today, music is still playing here: companies from all imaginable industries have succumbed to the charm of the courtyards.

Bechstein-Höfe – A reminiscence of the past. Where once the world-famous company Bechstein produced its grand pianos and pianos, booming industries now reside. Communication technologies or TV productions are just two examples of the businesses located in this GSG courtyard in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

This spacious building complex was built between 1886 and 1907 for the grand piano and piano producer. Instruments were manufactured here until 1988. In remembrance of this traditional company, the distinctive five-story main building still displays its name. The metal-clad chimney of the former heating house is also prominently visible – artistically staged in the form of a “Drudenstern.”
